At Kid Blackie Boxing Club we support and train youth, elite adult, and masters boxers as well as provide a safe and structured environment to learn boxing and utilize a balanced fitness program where you can train at your own pace. We are a USA boxing sanctioned club and ready to compete, and provide high-level fitness for people of all ages.

Lyric Opera House
Jack Dempsey was born William Harrison Dempsey, his family often referred to him as Harry, when he fought in the western mining town saloons he was "Kid Blackie" and it was not until his brother Bernie who often fought under the pseudonym was to fight the best mucker in Teller County, a tough brawny fighter George Coplen, and the Dempsey's were not the type to turn down a fight. This historic fight which has been forgotten forged a champion at the Lyric Opera House which no longer stands. Above block 23 426-434 is the last known footprint of the Lyric Opera House and it is where the Double Eagle Casino stands today.

Jack Dempsey Days! A century ago, Jack Dempsey would have ruled the ring and we want to celebrate the fact that he became Jack Dempsey here in Cripple Creek with a boxing tournament worthy of such a legend. June 2026 Tickets will go on sale soon.
Buena Vista Boxing Club was a most gracious host and we got to relax in the hot springs before competing. We look forward to this tournament every year.

Our most recent event where we fought in front of "Kid Blackie" himself, a mural in Durango depicts their famous fight with the great Jack Dempsey on the tavern which it happened. A historic fight and on the 106th anniversary of Jack Dempsey Vs Jess Willard.
